A not-for-profit organisation left in trust to the people of Guernsey

The KGV Story

KGV was established through a Trust as ‘playing fields for the people of Guernsey’ in 1935 in memory of King George the Fifth. Many sports were played here in the early years, however it was deployed as a camp for slave workers during the war before being re-established in 1948. Over time, the Trustees acquired extra land and added buildings to provide extra amenity.

In 2020, the work was completed, providing sports and community facilities for the people of Guernsey. Many sporting events are held at the KGV including international Cricket fixtures, Football tournaments, Walking Football internationals.

The Friends of KGV run the facilities at Rue Cohu on behalf of a Trust headed by the Bailiff of Guernsey. Significant improvements have been made to the grounds over the last few years, with the work to the main Clubhouse being completed in 2020.

KGV is a registered charity, charity number CH596. Any profits are used to maintain and improve the facilities. The Trustees and Directors are all volunteers.
